Pedro Acosta's Unique Riding Style Drives Difference at KTM

In the 2026 season, Pedro Acosta has established himself as the only KTM rider capable of regularly competing at the front. Following a sprint victory and a second-place grand prix finish at the season opener in Thailand, the Spaniard consistently secured podium finishes in Austin, Barcelona, Hungary, Aragon, and Misano, while claiming his first MotoGP win at KTM's home race in Spielberg. His performances significantly outshone those of his teammate Brad Binder and Tech3 rider Enea Bastianini.

Analyzing Acosta's technique, KTM technical director Sebastian Risse noted that the rider brakes hard and late without losing rear-wheel contact, paired with an early turn-in that allows him to maneuver the bike effectively. Acosta himself recognized that his riding style has evolved since his 2024 MotoGP debut, becoming smoother and more controlled while maintaining slightly tighter lines than his peers.

Meanwhile, other KTM riders have struggled to replicate Acosta's approach. Brad Binder, who served as KTM's benchmark in 2023, has been attempting to adapt his style but faces challenges putting individual sector performances together into complete lap times to improve his qualifying position.

Following seven years in MotoGP, KTM has chosen not to extend Binder's contract. The South African rider will transition to the Superbike World Championship with the BMW team for 2027. With Acosta moving to Ducati in MotoGP, KTM will line up next year with riders Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
