Phil Keen and Olly Bryant Snatch Dramatic Late Victory at Spa Six Hours

The Spa Six Hours at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium saw an intense battle among Ford GT40 competitors and a strong challenge from a Ginetta G4. With just five minutes remaining on lap 106, the leading Ford GT40 driven by Nico Verdonck and Andy Newall suffered a driveshaft failure and came to a halt. This allowed Phil Keen and Olly Bryant to claim victory, securing Keen's first Spa Six Hours win while Bryant repeated his 2021 triumph.

Despite a broken gear lever near the F1 pitlane entrance, the Danish pairing of Nikolai Kjaergaard and Alexander Weiss took second place in Palle Birkelund Pedersen's Ginetta G4, finishing two minutes behind the winners. Third place went to Maldon Salt Racing's GT40 driven by Steve Osborne, Jorg Muller, and Chris Ward, who recovered from an early pitstop for bodywork repairs.

The race weekend featured several other historic categories. The Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge fielded a massive 78-car grid, where Felix Haas and Christian Nowak set the pace, while promoters Randall Lawson and Ig de Bakker stepped down after 14 years. In the Frazer Nash race, Cliff Gray won The Jenks Trophy in a post-war Le Mans Rep after early leaders Andrew and Adam Smith suffered a breakdown.

In Formula Junior competition, Chris Goodwin won both races driving a Lotus 22. The event also marked a major milestone for 81-year-old motorsport historian Duncan Rabagliati, who logged his 750th career race start behind the wheel of his Alexis HF1.
