Wimbledon takes action against influencers after constantly disrupting tennis pros at US Open

Wimbledon is taking steps to prevent disruptive influencer behavior after content creators repeatedly interrupted play at the US Open. The All England Club will not introduce a dedicated accreditation category for influencers or content creators at the 2027 tournament, according to reports. Equipment capable of disturbing matches, including ring lights, will also be confiscated under Wimbledon’s existing conditions of entry.

The move is not a blanket ban preventing influencers from attending with regular tickets. However, it means Wimbledon will not follow the US Open by offering credentials specifically to creators. The US Open launched its creator accreditation program with 54 participants in 2025 before nearly doubling that figure to approximately 100 in 2026.

Several creators came under fire after their behavior distracted both players and spectators. During Naomi Osaka’s first-round match against Anastasia Zakharova, chair umpire Kader Nouni had to intervene after a group in a suite began recording content during a point. Another viral clip showed people using a bright ring light to film themselves while play continued, leading the US Open to display messages asking spectators to refrain from flash photography and other lighting during matches.

The disruption was not limited to noise and bright lights. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka stopped during her third-round win over Kamilla Rakhimova after smelling marijuana coming from the stands. The US Open has already taken action of its own, as two lifestyle influencers had their access revoked after being improperly added to a food vendor’s staff list.
