Bhatia Shines as Trinbago Knight Riders Maintain Unbeaten Run with Dominant Win over Jamaica Empress

The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) maintained their unbeaten start to the Limacol WCPL with a dominant nine-wicket victory over the Jamaica Empress in Match 3 at Kensington Oval on Thursday. Chasing a modest target, TKR comfortably reached their mark with 53 balls to spare, sealing their second consecutive victory of the competition.

Earlier in the match, the Knight Riders' bowlers set the foundation for the emphatic victory after sending the Jamaica Empress in to bat. The Empress faced early trouble, losing two wickets in consecutive deliveries during the second over, which included the prized scalp of former Australia captain Meg Lanning. Despite a patient 40 off 47 balls from Rashada Williams and an unbeaten 22 from Chinelle Henry, the Empress struggled to build momentum and finished their 20 overs at 100/9. Karishma Ramharack spearheaded the TKR bowling attack, earning Player of the Match honors with impressive figures of 3/11 from her four overs.

In response, TKR's run chase was expertly anchored by opener Yastika Bhatia, who scored an unbeaten 57 from 34 balls. Although Laura Harris was dismissed for 35/1 in the fifth over—stumped after being beaten by a sharply turning delivery from Nonkululeko Mlaba—TKR remained firmly in control of the chase. Captain Deandra Dottin joined Bhatia and contributed a quickfire 22 off 15 balls, sharing an unbeaten 69-run partnership for the second wicket to secure the win.

Following this result, the Trinbago Knight Riders are set to face the Guyana Amazon Warriors in their next match. Meanwhile, the Jamaica Empress will look to bounce back in their upcoming fixture against the Barbados Tridents.
