Cowboys’ Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark Could Define Week 1 Battle vs. Giants

Speaking during an ESPN preview, analyst Harry Douglas stated that physicality is his primary expectation from the Dallas Cowboys defense as they open the season at the New York Giants on Sept. 13. He pointed to the interior pairing of Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark as a tremendous boost for the defense and expressed excitement regarding how defensive coordinator Christian Parker will call the game.

On the New York side, Douglas focused on head coach John Harbaugh along with additions such as fullback Patrick Ricard and first-round draft pick Francis Mauigoa. Both sides aim to bring physicality back to the line of scrimmage for the matchup taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Williams and Clark enter this season with a full offseason together following Clark's arrival via an August 2025 trade and Williams' arrival at the Nov. 4 deadline. After allowing the most points in the NFL in 2025, Dallas replaced defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus with Parker. Meanwhile, New York added Ricard, selected Mauigoa with the No. 10 overall pick, and listed Cam Skattebo as their starting running back following his recovery from injury.

Historically, Dallas has won 11 of their 12 season openers against the Giants, with Sept. 13 marking the 13th time the two teams open a season against each other. Dallas leads the all-time series 78-48-2, following a 2025 season where each team won one of their two regular-season meetings.
