Braves Discussed Trading Spencer Strider At Deadline

Jacob deGrom made trade speculation a moot point when the Rangers ace invoked his no-trade clause at this year's deadline. The Braves were linked to the market, with reports indicating that Atlanta floated moving Spencer Strider as a way of balancing out the salaries involved in a potential swap.

It remained unclear if discussions advanced significantly because the Rangers did not show initial interest, potentially due to the uncertainty surrounding Strider's arm. Strider had been sidelined since June due to elbow inflammation, compounding a history of major procedures.

Strider's inclusion in these talks does not necessarily indicate that the Braves will actively shop him in the offseason. Braves president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos is known for creative proposals, and teams routinely discuss various players as part of due diligence.

Following three underwhelming years impacted by injuries, Strider is no longer viewed as an untouchable rotation cornerstone. However, since he will not turn 28 until October, he could still bounce back and deliver strong future seasons if he maintains his health.
