World Championships Elite Men's Road Race Opens Up to Top Contenders

The UCI Road World Championships in Montreal, Canada, are nearing their conclusion, with the elite men's road race taking place on Sunday. The event brings together the top riders in the world to compete for the title and the rainbow jersey.

The race was previously expected to see Tadej Pogačar win his third consecutive world title. His dominant solo victories in Zurich and Kigali had established him as the primary favourite for the event.

However, a crash at the Vuelta forced Pogačar out for the remainder of the season, opening the door for other competitors. Major favourites for the title now include Isaac del Toro, Remco Evenepoel, and Mathieu van der Poel.
