Russia claims encirclement in Kharkiv, but independent sources find no evidence

Russian forces have claimed to create a large encirclement of Ukrainian units east of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, trapping troops in dozens of border villages. However, this claim remains unverified, with no video evidence provided. Independent mapping and analytical groups, including Black Bird Group, Playfra, and DeepStateUA, indicate no signs of an encirclement occurring in the area.

In eastern Ukraine, Russian troops are attempting to outflank Kostiantynivka and Druzhkivka from the west by sending small units to infiltrate thinly held defensive positions. In response, Ukrainian military commander Mykhailo Drapatyi has brought in reinforcements, deploying the 210th Assault Regiment and the 46th Air Assault Brigade to bolster defensive flanks and inter-corps boundaries.

Concurrently, heavy air strikes continue on both sides. Russian missile and drone attacks targeted Kyiv, striking a residential building and causing injuries. Russian drone strikes also hit border crossings between Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania in the Odesa region, killing two civilians and injuring three. Conversely, Ukraine launched a drone raid against the Russian port of Novorossiysk, causing a fire at a naval base and oil facilities.

According to visually documented loss data from the Oryx project as of September 7, Russia has lost a total of 24,066 pieces of heavy military equipment, including 4,446 tanks. Ukraine's heavy equipment losses stand at 12,097 pieces, including 1,462 tanks.
