Israeli Forces Shell Damascus Countryside and Open Fire in Daraa

Israeli forces targeted Syrian territory on Friday with a single artillery shell that landed in agricultural land west of the town of Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, no casualties were reported as a result of the artillery shelling.

In a related context during the early hours of Friday, Israeli forces opened fire with heavy machine guns toward residential areas in the village of Maariya in the Daraa countryside. The shooting coincided with intensive drone activity in the area's airspace, and no reports of injuries were received.

The Observatory noted that these incidents occur amid ongoing Israeli firing operations, shelling, and military movements inside Syrian territory, particularly in the Daraa and Quneitra governorates as well as the western Damascus countryside. These actions have raised concerns regarding the security of civilians and their property.

Since the beginning of this year, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented 70 attacks by Israeli forces on Syrian territory, comprising six airstrikes and 64 ground attacks. These strikes resulted in five deaths and damage to approximately 13 targets, including weapons and ammunition depots, headquarters, centers, and vehicles. The Observatory reiterated its condemnation of the attacks, emphasizing the need to protect civilians and spare residential and agricultural areas from further military escalation.
