Montréal Hosts UCI Road World Championships Featuring Mount Royal Climb

Montréal is hosting the UCI Road World Championships from September 20 to 27, bringing Mount Royal back to the forefront of global cycling. This event comes 52 years after Montréal made history as the first city outside Europe to hold the Road World Championships, two years before becoming the first Canadian city to host Summer Olympic Games competitions.

The city circuit features the signature Camillien-Houde incline through Parc du Mont-Royal, which offers views of eastern Montréal and the Olympic Stadium. The steep 1.7km boulevard includes pitches of up to 10%, posing physical and mental challenges for junior, under-23, and elite riders over repeated ascents.

To celebrate the return of the UCI Road Worlds to Montréal, a ceremony was held two years ago. The event was attended by France's Genevieve Gambillon, the 1974 road world champion, alongside now-retired professional rider Julian Alaphilippe.
