Mattias Skjelmose Withdraws from World Championships Following Vuelta a España

Mattias Skjelmose has officially withdrawn from the World Championships. The decision comes after the rider suffered through the final days of the Vuelta a España.

National coach Michal Mørkøv had described Skjelmose as Denmark's best hope for the event. He was set to lead the line for Denmark alongside Mads Pedersen in the Montréal Worlds road race on September 27.

Skjelmose previously finished sixth in the Tour de France and is a former winner of hilly Classics such as the Amstel Gold Race.
