Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel completed a standout warm-up for the upcoming Road World Championships over the weekend. The cyclist achieved a staggering 174km solo ride to victory on the final stage of the Tour de Luxembourg.

The victory highlights the 2023 world champion's form ahead of the elite men's road race, which is scheduled for next Sunday in Montreal.

Prior to this performance, Van der Poel had played down his chances of winning another rainbow jersey this week, noting that the course will "still be a little too difficult for me."
