Kate Courtney's debut at Road World Championships ends early after crash

Around September last year, Kate Courtney made history as the first US woman to win the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships, securing the second rainbow jersey of her career. However, this year, her focus shifted entirely to road racing.

Courtney made her debut at the USPro Road Nationals in the summer, where she claimed victory. This success led her to sign a professional road contract with the FDJ United-Suez team, building strong momentum for her debut at the UCI Road World Championships.

Nevertheless, her debut at the event ended prematurely after a crash on the fastest part of the course. Instead of taking home a medal, the American cyclist walked away with unexpected bruises, but she remains determined to heal her wounds, prove her fitness, and return to compete again.
