Juan Sebastián Molano Wins Stage 1 of CRO Race

Juan Sebastián Molano of UAE Team Emirates-XRG stormed to victory from a bunch sprint to win stage 1 of the CRO Race in Seget Donji. The win came after a tense pursuit in the closing phase of the stage.

Earlier, Axel van der Tuuk (Euskaltel Euskadi) and Sjoerd Bax (Pinarello Q36.5) attacked away in the last 20 kilometers. Flying down a rapid descent into the finale, the duo almost made it all the way to the line.

The tight chase saw the two-man breakaway survive into the final 300 meters before the bunch caught them just in sight of the line. During the sprint finish, Paul Magnier found himself boxed in as Molano claimed the stage victory.
