Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon kill 12 people

Lebanon's Health Ministry reported that the Israeli air force carried out two airstrikes early Monday on a southern Lebanese village, killing at least 12 people and wounding others, including children. The strikes took place amid a new round of escalation between Israel and the militant Hezbollah group despite a truce reached more than two months ago.

The ministry stated that one of the strikes hit a building, killing 11 people, including two children and four women, and wounding eight others. Another strike on a car in the village killed a paramedic with the Lebanese Islamic Risala Scout Association and wounded two more.

The Israeli military stated that the strikes were in retaliation for two Hezbollah drone attacks targeting Israeli troops in the area. Meanwhile, the military also issued evacuation warnings and carried out strikes in other parts of southern Lebanon following various attacks and gunfire targeting its forces.

Kfar Rumman's mayor, Abdullah Farhat, described the incident as a massacre and criticized the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel. Although a U.S.-brokered deal and a truce were previously established, both have been repeatedly violated with ongoing airstrikes and military confrontations.
