Finn Fisher-Black Self-Funds Trip to Road World Championships Due to Lack of Federation Funding

New Zealand rider Finn Fisher-Black has stated that the national cycling federation is continuing its policy of not covering expenses for elite riders at the upcoming Road World Championships. As a result, the 24-year-old and other elite professionals are self-funding their travel to Canada to participate in the competition.

Fisher-Black recently completed the Vuelta a España, finishing in 52nd place overall after spending three weeks supporting team leader Primož Roglič. Prior to that race, he achieved a second-place finish at the Tour de Pologne.

In his previous international appearances, Fisher-Black competed in the under-23 men's road race at the 2021 UCI Road World Championships held in Leuven.
