Bulgaria Backs Political Declarations at International Space Summit

The Council of Ministers has decided that Bulgaria will join political declarations at the International Space Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Paris on September 9 and 10, 2026.

Bulgaria sees active participation in European space initiatives as an opportunity to advance its national interests and enable Bulgarian institutions, research organizations and businesses to participate more fully in European space ecosystems and value chains.

Given the strategic importance of space to Europe’s competitiveness, technological independence, security and strategic autonomy, Bulgaria supports initiatives to strengthen Europe’s space sector and develop shared European capabilities.

Endorsing joint declarations and political initiatives will give Bulgaria a more prominent position in the European space sector and create further opportunities to safeguard and promote its national interests in shaping future European space policies and priorities.
