British Team Looks to Capitalise on World Championships Behind Leader Tom Pidcock

Half of the British team for the elite men's road race have recently completed the Vuelta a España and are looking to bring their form into the road World Championships in Montreal, Canada. The squad will focus on supporting team leader Tom Pidcock, who is considered a genuine contender for the win, as riders look to capitalize on the absence of Tadej Pogačar.

The team's Scottish contingent features Oscar Onley and Callum Thornley. Onley comes into the event after finishing sixth overall and winning the Best Young Rider classification at the Vuelta a España, marking his third consecutive elite World Championships road race appearance.

Meanwhile, time trial breakthrough rider Callum Thornley is set to make his debut at the competition. The British riders aim to build on their recent Vuelta experience to support Pidcock's title bid in Canada.
