Brandon McNulty Misses Out on Time Trial Medal at Road World Championships

Brandon McNulty of Team USA came close to securing his first elite Road World Championships medal on Sunday during the time trial event. However, the 28-year-old saw his spot on the podium slip away as the final two competitors crossed the finish line. This marked the second time in McNulty's career that he was within reach of an elite world medal.

McNulty crossed the line three riders after Paul Seixas over the 39.2km course. At that point, the American was just 12 seconds short of the Frenchman's then-first place time.

Ultimately, McNulty was pushed off the podium into fourth place by the last two cyclists to finish. Race winner Remco Evenepoel of Belgium and Italy's Filippo Ganna took the top positions, leaving the American just outside the medal ranks.
