Ben Maher Overcomes Injury to Win Major Showjumping Prize in Canada

Great Britain’s Ben Maher won his first ever showjumping major, the $5 million CPKC International grand prix presented by Rolex, held at Spruce Meadows in Canada on September 13.

The victory came despite Maher feeling the physical effects of a heavy fall during the BMO Nations Cup on the previous day. He fought through three demanding rounds of 1.65m jumping to secure the title.

With no double clears recorded over the opening two rounds, Maher, riding his 12-year-old horse Enjeu Du Grisien, carried four faults from the first round into a high-calibre jump-off against five rivals to decide the winner.
