Starting grid for the 2026 F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

The starting grid for the 2026 F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix has been set, with Mercedes driver George Russell starting from pole position ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in second place. Oscar Piastri of McLaren and Isack Hadjar of Red Bull occupy third and fourth positions, respectively. The remaining spots in the top 10 are held by Lando Norris (McLaren), Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), Pierre Gasly (Alpine), Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Franco Colapinto (Alpine), and Oliver Bearman (Haas).

In the second half of the grid, Liam Lawson lines up in 11th place, followed by Alexander Albon, Esteban Ocon, Carlos Sainz, and Arvid Lindblad. Several grid penalties were issued prior to the race. Williams driver Carlos Sainz received a five-place grid penalty due to a yellow-flag infringement. Meanwhile, Aston Martin drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll were sent to the back of the grid after making multiple power unit component changes.
