Sparrow Pharmaceuticals Appoints George Eldridge as Chief Financial Officer

Sparrow Pharmaceuticals, a targeted cardiometabolic therapeutics company based in Boston, has announced the appointment of George Eldridge as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Eldridge brings more than twenty years of financial leadership in the biotechnology sector, having successfully guided multiple companies through initial public offerings (IPOs).

This appointment comes as Sparrow advances clofutriben, its lead candidate. Clofutriben is a novel, once-daily, oral HSD-1 inhibitor currently in Phase 2b development for patients with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes. Robert Jacks, President & CEO of Sparrow, stated that Mr. Eldridge's leadership will be instrumental in positioning the company for its next growth phase. Mr. Eldridge highlighted that elevated cortisol is a common driver of poor outcomes in cardiometabolic patients, and clofutriben's mechanism has the potential to address this unmet need.

Most recently, Mr. Eldridge served as CFO of Abcuro, Inc., preparing the company for an IPO ahead of positive Phase 2/3 results in February 2026. Prior to that, he spent four years as CFO of Aerovate Therapeutics, Inc., taking it public in 2021. He also held CFO and executive roles at several other biotechnology firms, including Lyndra Therapeutics, Inc., Sollis Therapeutics Inc., Proteon, Targanta Therapeutics Corporation, Curis, Inc., and Boston Life Sciences, Inc.

Mr. Eldridge began his career as an investment banker at Kidder Peabody & Co, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
