Shelby American and Trans Am Series Celebrate 60th Anniversary at VIR and COTA

Shelby American and the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli are celebrating the 60th anniversary of Trans Am at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) and Circuit of The Americas (COTA). The partnership also aims to raise awareness for the Carroll Shelby Foundation (CSF), an organization founded in 1991 that provides financial support for families of children undergoing organ transplants and offers educational opportunities.

As part of the collaboration, a contingency prize program is being offered during the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series events at VIR and the season finale at COTA from November 5-8. The top three TA2 class finishers displaying the Carroll Shelby Foundation decal will receive additional prize money, with $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second, and $1,000 for third. The VIR event takes place from September 17 to 20, with live coverage broadcast on RacingAmerica.TV and YouTube.

Earlier this year, Shelby American introduced a limited-edition 2026 Shelby GT350/TA car inspired by Trans Am SGT category specifications to mark the 60th milestone. Shelby American has a deep history with the series, having built the Ford Mustangs that helped Ford Motor Company win the inaugural Trans Am Manufacturers' Championship titles in 1966 and 1967.

Executives from Shelby American and Racing America highlighted the significance of the partnership, noting that it honors Carroll Shelby's motorsports legacy and American performance heritage while preserving racing history and creating new experiences for fans and teams at VIR and COTA.
