Ritomo Miyata Takes Maiden F2 Victory in Madrid Sprint

The Formula 2 Sprint race at the Madring began with Emerson Fittipaldi starting on reverse grid pole and Hitech driver Ritomo Miyata alongside him. Miyata took the lead into the very first corner. A Safety Car was brought out immediately after Nico Varrone made contact with Kush Maini and hit the barrier at Turn 7, while John Bennett hit the kerbs hard and spun around.

After the Safety Car came in on Lap 4, Miyata maintained his lead at the front. Further down the order, overtaking proved difficult on the narrow track. Championship leader Nikola Tsolov attempted to pass his Campos teammate Noel Leon but could not make the move stick. On Lap 15, Tsolov clipped the wall at the entry of Turn 20 and spun into the barrier, ending his race and bringing out another Safety Car.

When the race resumed on Lap 17, Miyata quickly built a gap of over a second to the field behind. Miyata took the chequered flag to secure victory with a 2.6-second margin over Fittipaldi in second. Laurens Van Hoepen finished third, while Noel Leon, Martinius Stenshorne, Rafa Camara, Alex Dunne, and Mari Boya completed the top eight.
