Real VR Fishing Celebrates 7th Anniversary with Prehistoric Sharks Event

Devs United Games is celebrating the seventh anniversary of its virtual reality fishing simulator, Real VR Fishing, which has sold over one million copies. Starting September 15, the game will launch the "Prehistoric Sharks Event" on Quest and PC VR (Steam). This event tasks both new and returning anglers with researching ancient predators of the seas by fishing for fossils in real-world locations connected to the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic eras.

The event will roll out over a three-week span, with a new prehistoric era unlocking each week. The Paleozoic era begins on September 15, 2026, followed by the Mesozoic era on September 22, 2026, and the Cenozoic era on September 29, 2026. To participate when the event goes live, players must check hints on the event map screen to determine where fossils can be caught. Catching the required number of fossils will unlock that week's event map, which remains accessible until the event concludes in early October.

Participants in the Prehistoric Sharks Event can earn exclusive, event-only rewards, including a new fishing rod, hat, boat, and title. Alongside this event, the game is introducing a personalized Angler's Logbook that compiles players' milestones, caught fish, and visited locations into a shareable record. Additionally, three new fish species have been permanently added to the game, which is available on both Quest and Steam platforms for $19.99.
