Pedro Acosta Claims Maiden MotoGP Victory at the Red Bull Ring

Pedro Acosta achieved his first-ever MotoGP victory at the Red Bull Ring, the home circuit of his team KTM. Prior to this win, the 22-year-old Spaniard held the record for the most MotoGP podiums without a victory, having accumulated 15 top-three finishes, including eight runner-up spots and seven third places.

Acosta made his MotoGP debut in 2024 with KTM's satellite team Tech3, securing five podiums in his rookie season. He added five more podiums after moving to the factory KTM team in 2025, followed by another five podiums from the opening 14 rounds this year. This victory marks the 17th win of his world championship career, following six victories in Moto3 and 11 in Moto2.

The result in Austria also ended KTM's long wait for a premier-class victory dating back to the 2022 Thai Grand Prix, which was won by Miguel Oliveira. Additionally, Acosta became the 17th Spanish rider to win a premier-class race and the first non-Aprilia or Ducati rider to win a grand prix this year.

Despite KTM's competitive struggles, financial issues, and engine challenges, as well as a crash in Saturday's sprint race, Acosta delivered an important victory for the team before his departure at the end of the season. Next year, he is set to join the factory Ducati team alongside Marc Marquez.
