Pedro Acosta Claims Maiden MotoGP Victory at Austrian Grand Prix

Pedro Acosta achieved a major milestone in his career by claiming his maiden MotoGP victory at the Austrian Grand Prix. The 22-year-old Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider took the chequered flag on his 56th attempt in the premier class, securing KTM's first win since the 2022 Thai Grand Prix.

Starting fourth on the grid, Acosta initially dropped to fifth at the start before making a swift recovery aboard his factory KTM. He steadily passed Marc Marquez, Ai Ogura, and Marco Bezzecchi to close the gap to polesitter Jorge Martin, eventually snatching the lead out of Turn 1 on lap 9 of 28.

Acosta maintained a solid lead before picking up his pace in the closing stages to extend his advantage to a second. The Spanish rider sealed a sensational victory in front of KTM's home crowd by a margin of 1.01 seconds over Martin, while Marco Bezzecchi and Ai Ogura rounded out the top four.

Reigning champion Marc Marquez endured a topsy-turvy race, running wide at Turn 1 on lap nine and dropping to seventh before fighting back to finish fifth. Brad Binder secured sixth place for KTM ahead of Francesco Bagnaia in seventh, while Alex Marquez was the sole retirement of the race following a crash just before the halfway mark.
