Marco Bezzecchi Remains Confident in MotoGP Title Pursuit Despite Recent Errors

Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi has expressed his determination to keep his 2026 MotoGP title hopes alive, even after losing ground to his championship rivals following a crash at the San Marino Grand Prix. Bezzecchi, who secured pole position with a record-breaking lap at Misano, crashed out from the lead on the opening lap at Turn 13 while running ahead of title rival Marc Marquez.

The incident marked the fifth time in seven grands prix that the 27-year-old failed to score points in a Sunday race, affected by a combination of mistakes, injury, and a ban. Having previously led the championship by 17 points after the Italian Grand Prix, the slump leaves him 33 points behind joint leaders Marquez and his Aprilia team-mate Jorge Martin with eight rounds remaining.

Speaking ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, Bezzecchi acknowledged the 33-point gap but stressed that his primary goal is to restore consistency to his performances. Prior to a recent injury suffered at Sachsenring—from which he returned with a double podium finish at Silverstone—and his error at Misano, Bezzecchi noted he had been highly consistent before making a series of mistakes.

Bezzecchi stated that he analyzed the data from his Misano crash to understand his mistake in detail. Despite the setback, he highlighted positive aspects regarding his speed and sprint performance, maintaining that he will do his best to remain competitive and stay in the championship battle until the end.
