Marco Bezzecchi Refuses to Give Up on MotoGP Title Hopes After Misano Error

Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi missed out on a potential victory at Misano after crashing from the lead at Turn 13 on the opening lap of the San Marino Grand Prix. The 27-year-old Italian had secured pole position with a record-breaking lap in qualifying and was running ahead of title rival Marc Marquez before making the costly error.

The crash at Misano marked the fifth time in seven grands prix that Bezzecchi failed to score points in a Sunday race, whether due to mistakes, injury, or a ban. This slump in results saw him transform a 17-point lead following the Italian Grand Prix into a 33-point deficit behind joint championship leaders Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin with eight rounds remaining.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix, Bezzecchi maintained that while the points gap is significant, it is not impossible to overcome. The Italian rider revealed that he deeply analysed the data from his Misano crash to understand his mistake, emphasizing that his main focus now is to recover the consistency he showed before his Sachsenring injury and remain in the title hunt until the end.
