Marc Marquez Wins San Marino GP to Take MotoGP Points Lead

Marc Marquez secured victory at the San Marino Grand Prix after taking advantage of an opening-lap crash by pole-sitter Marco Bezzecchi. The Italian rider slid out at Turn 12 while attempting to defend his lead, allowing the factory Ducati rider to inherit the top spot and claim his fifth win of the season.

During the race, Marquez faced a strong challenge from Jorge Martin, who briefly took the lead with a pass into Turn 4. However, Marquez reclaimed the position on lap 12 at Turn 6. Martin subsequently suffered a sharp drop in pace, falling to fifth place after being overtaken by Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta.

Alex Marquez finished second, 0.657 seconds behind Marc Marquez, securing the first one-two finish for the Marquez brothers this season. Pedro Acosta climbed from seventh on the grid to complete the podium in third, followed by Fermin Aldeguer in fourth. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia joined Bezzecchi among the high-profile retirees in a race where only 14 riders finished.

Following the Grand Prix, Marc Marquez moved level with Jorge Martin at the top of the championship standings on 274 points. Marquez holds the lead on countback by virtue of having secured more race victories this season.
