Marc Marquez Beats Marco Bezzecchi for Sprint Victory at San Marino GP

Marc Marquez claimed his sixth sprint win of the 2026 MotoGP season at the San Marino Grand Prix, closing the gap to Jorge Martin in the championship standings. Starting from second on the grid, the Ducati rider passed polesitter Marco Bezzecchi into Turn 1 of the 13-lap contest to take the lead.

Bezzecchi initially matched Marquez's pace on his Aprilia, but the leader pulled away to build a one-second advantage by lap five. Although Bezzecchi cut the gap in half on lap eight, Marquez responded by setting the fastest lap of the race to restore an 0.8-second margin and hold on for the victory. Jorge Martin completed the podium in third place on his Aprilia after passing Fabio Di Giannantonio on lap seven.

Behind the top three, Alex Marquez recovered from two crashes in qualifying to take fifth place by capitalizing on a battle between Pedro Acosta and Fermin Aldeguer. Acosta finished sixth for KTM, ahead of Raul Fernandez and Aldeguer. Luca Marini secured the final point in ninth despite surviving a mid-race collision caused by Fabio Quartararo, while Johann Zarco rounded out the top ten.
