Jorge Martin wins Austrian GP sprint after Pedro Acosta crashes out

The Austrian Grand Prix sprint at the Red Bull Ring delivered an unexpected outcome as Jorge Martin snatched victory despite an early setback. Starting from pole position, Martin ran deep into Turn 1 and came to blows with Marc Marquez at Turn 2, dropping to eighth place by the end of the opening lap. Pedro Acosta took advantage of the squabble, seizing the lead when Marquez missed his braking point at Turn 3.

Once in front, Acosta quickly built a gap of nearly three seconds over his pursuers. Behind him, Martin launched a steady fightback, passing teammate Marco Bezzecchi on lap 7 before forcing Marquez wide on the following lap to reclaim second position. Despite Martin's recovery, Acosta maintained a comfortable margin heading into the closing stages of the 14-lap race.

The race turned on lap 12 when Acosta made an error at Turn 2 and crashed out, handing the lead to Martin. The Spaniard brought his bike home over a second clear of Marquez, taking the sprint victory and reclaiming the championship lead by three points. Although Acosta remounted his KTM after the fall, he was forced to roll into the pits shortly afterwards.

Marco Bezzecchi rounded out the podium in third place on the other factory Aprilia. Returning after a two-race absence, Ai Ogura finished fourth ahead of Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia. Acosta and Franco Morbidelli were the only two riders who failed to reach the finish line.
