BMW #37 Wins 2026 Bol d’Or to Secure Historic EWC Title

One year after a late defeat at Circuit Paul Ricard, the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team claimed victory at the 89th Bol d’Or to secure a landmark EWC title for the German manufacturer. The rider trio of Markus Reiterberger, Steven Odendaal, and Michael van der Mark delivered a strong performance over 24 hours onboard the #37 machine to lead the race ahead of Suzuki #12 and Yamaha #1.

Starting from pole position, the Belgian-managed team led by Werner Daemen lost the lead off the line to the Yoshimura SERT Motul Suzuki #12 before reclaiming it on the opening lap. After a fierce battle with the F.C.C. TSR Honda France #5, a superior fuel strategy allowed BMW #37 to lead at the 8-hour, 16-hour, and 24-hour marks. The team collected a maximum score of 65 points and established a new event distance record by completing 742 laps.

Behind the winners, Yoshimura SERT Motul Suzuki #12 recovered from fifth position at mid-race through night pit strategy to finish second on the podium and third overall in the final championship standings. Defending champions YART Yamaha #1 finished third, missing out on the world title by four points after early pace issues and a pit incident where a refuelling stand remained attached to their rear wheel. Yamaha #1 gained third place after Honda #5 crashed out on Sunday morning to settle for fourth, ahead of Webike Trickstar Kawasaki #11 in fifth.

In the other categories, Wójcik Racing Team #77 Honda took the Superstock class victory in sixth overall. Team Metiss secured honours in the Experimental category by finishing fourteenth, while Audemar Motoclub Gemenos claimed the Production class win on home soil in twenty-second position.
