Anthony Davidson Criticizes Lewis Hamilton's Actions After FP3 Crash in Madrid

Former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sports analyst Anthony Davidson argued that Lewis Hamilton set a bad example for junior drivers during the third practice session (FP3) in Madrid. Hamilton crashed at the final corner, bringing out the red flag, but managed to reverse away from the wall and continue driving with a puncture and the front wing trapped under the car.

Despite repeated instructions from his race engineer to park the car in a safe place, Hamilton attempted to nurse the damaged vehicle back to the pits. Davidson noted during the broadcast that the team needed to inform Hamilton that his front wing was under the car and warn him about a potential penalty. Hamilton eventually pulled over at the exit of Turn 14 after being informed of direct instructions from the race director.

Davidson warned young drivers watching the session not to follow Hamilton's example, emphasizing that safety rules exist for a reason. He pointed out the potential danger if the wing went completely under the car and jacked up the front wheels while marshals were on the track.

When the session resumed, Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli set the fastest lap, while Hamilton finished ninth. The FIA has yet to issue an update regarding a potential penalty for Hamilton, who could face either a fine or a sporting penalty.
